Always wanting to correct, adjust, and align my thinking and understanding to what is Truly True, working to take everything taught/preached/said and running it back through to the Scriptures with the Holy Spirit as my Teacher, I admit Mark 16: 15-17 (NET) is bugging me out. Here's vss 15-18:
"15And He said to them,
'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
18they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.'”
Searching various translations, I'm pretty sure I have never heard a sermon on this version of the Great Commission. I was 30+ years obsessed with Matthew's record of it.
If I used Mark's account as a measure of who "believes" in Jesus, who would measure up?
Pretty jolting, honestly, and mind bending.
Grateful to my Anchor and Indwelling Hiding Place as I trudge into new territory.
