Our Favorite Children's Audio

{This post contains affiliate links and is dedicated to those who have ears to hear.}

Our family listens to audio stuff all the time, often even while we sleep.

I once heard there is no such thing as children's books, only GOOD (or not so good) books.

With many boys and a gal listening daily at home and during travel, here are some of our favorites:

 Word of Promise Audio Bible

Lamplighter Theater

The Cat of Bubastes - A Tale of Ancient Egypt

Jonathan Park

Everything by G. A. Henty

Little House Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder

The Hobbit

The Lord of the Rings

The Boxcar Children

The Railway Children

The Secret Garden

The Chronicles of Narnia

Little Women

The Cooper Kids Adventure Series

The Mystery of History Volume 1, 2, 3 & 4

Adventures in Odyssey

Spirit Blessings

(At home, we play the free audio blessings and audio bible while our six children sleep.  :)

I hope this list gives you some fun and meaningful resources for your whole family!

We the People Part 1

{This post contains affiliate links and is dedicated to those who uphold the Constitution.}

I am grateful for the friend who posted this article on facebook.  Though I haven't read it, and frankly might not, the heading reminded of an image I keep seeing (in my mind's eye) of Donald Trump as a bulldozer.

I was reared to beware of men's words but to watch their actions.  If Donald Trump were a woman perhaps his words would be uncouth enough to ignore.   Instead, he is a man who took a million borrowed dollars and with good business sense and hard work turned it into multiple billions.  He didn't do that face-booking about politics.  Last I heard, he spent $45 million of his own cash to run for the office of the President of the United States.

Looking at his actions (not his words) I see he is willing to put his money where his mouth is:  perhaps to be used by We the People to tear down governmental junk so we can rebuild what We want.

I remember talking with a man years ago who was getting involved in the political process. He knew many who were busy minding their own business never dreaming progressive idealism was creeping into law systems in the quiet of the night while they slept unaware in their beds.  He realized he needed to participate actively by being informed AND informing others.

His words stuck with me.  I now see these two facets - being informed and informing - as two essential aspects to upholding our Constitutional rights.  This blog is -in part- a way I can contribute by informing.  I appreciate those who are willing to step up in small and large ways to make the changes needed to uphold our liberties and I respect the tenacity and zeal of those who speak up.   I am often reminded of Davy Crockett who stepped up in spite of himself.  His country needed him.  May there be many more like him who will serve while they tend to other responsibilities.

Our Constitution was founded with the understanding that We the People would be informed.   Sadly, it's contents and importance has been overlooked for many generations of Americans.  In order to help us inform ourselves, we'll focus on several ways you can learn more.

Hillsdale College, known for pursing truth and defending liberty since 1844 and cranking out Constitutional lawyers is offering a free online course right now called "Constitution 101."

Mark and Jill Baker at Baker's Green Acres  are committed to educating and informing people not only of the importance of having nourishing food available but also to KNOW our Constitution and UNDERSTAND how to apply it in our everyday lives.   For example, we the people should NOT need permission to drink milk straight from a neighbor's cow or do business with those who produce exceptionally nourishing foods in local areas.  The Baker's work with land, food, technology and law and embody the essence of what makes our nation great.  They are even hosting how to videos for those looking to produce food for their own families.  Growing our own food and tending our own herds should not be governed by laws which hinder this!!

"The American Founders wrote a Constitution that established a government limited in size and scope, whose central purpose was to secure the natural rights of all Americans. By contrast, early Progressives rejected the notion of fixed limits on government, and their political descendants continue today to seek an ever-larger role for the federal bureaucracy in American life. In light of this fundamental and ongoing disagreement over the purpose of government, this course will consider contemporary public policy issues from a constitutional viewpoint."  Hillsdale College
While some of us don't like to think about it, secular progressives ignore, bypass and disregard the Constitution, which is what guarantees our liberties from tyrants and governmental rule.  Chaos is the soil in which they can offer tyrannical leadership.  We do not need them to decide for us. WE DECIDE which way we want our nation to go.
We must protect the U.S. Constitution from anyone who seeks to make it impotent.  It is like the seed for all our days and generations as Americans.  Sadly, since at least the 1950's it has not been taught in government (aka "public") schools.  We must be informed.  The government is not to have power over us, rather we hire individuals to ensure our liberties are upheld as defined in the Constitution and founding documents.

"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves."  ~Abraham Lincoln

I was encouraged by THIS ARTICLE posted on  Dr. Ben Carson's face book page  highlighting a Washington D.C. Judge's decision to uphold the 2nd amendment.  Bravo!!  May his tribe increase across our great land!

For those of you who like to really dig in, I recommend the video below for an introduction to the U.S. Constitution.

Too, we need to be concerned with ensuring the Supreme Court seat nominations which will likely open in the next 5 years are votes for men and women who will uphold the Constitution!!!

More coming soon.  Stay tuned.  :)

In my experience, taking care of Mommy and baby is something no one ever regrets.   Here are some of my oh-so favorite resources for the journey.

Spirit
*
Playing the bible in the background is great for building up our innards.  With busy hands tending home and children, I so appreciate the cds, MP3 and drama productions we have accumulated in our family library over the years.  This year we added the Word of Promise audio bible.  It is FANTASTIC!!!!!  Our children are growing up listening to the audio bible and this adds another dimension to all of our appreciation.  It is SO well done!

Too, I have enjoyed playing Baby Blessings: Names Of God at night and during the day for years being home with my children.  These have been a very important part of my life.

The Blessing Your Spirit series has been one of my favorites for years.  It's available for free download here.

Babies will love hearing Mama or Daddy read this treasured book aloud.  Available in many languages, it is beyond wonderful.

Don't miss the chance to give baby's spirit a chance to develop ahead of the soul.

Body
For my body, I have tried and appreciated many  supplements over the years as I have learned about food and nutrition.  By far, I am most happy with Garden of Life

Jordan Rubin has a great idea!

A shout out to the over 40 crowd:
Now that hubby and I are over 40 and our bodies are no longer producing certain essentials, we are SO grateful for these RAW supplements as we work to build up our own gardens and hope to eventually produce our own food.   MyKind Organics from Garden of Life are supplements specifically formulated to meet the unique needs of men and women 40+.

For those over 50 and looking for great stuff to supplement your body's specific needs, Garden of Life also has products for you!

Another major component to my overall health has been massive doses of info I have gleaned from several different sources.  They harmonize very well to give over all health and nutrition advice with lots of biblical foundations!

By far my favorite and most educational of all books on what's good to eat and why is a massive book called Nourishing Traditions  by Sallon Fallon.  Seriously...her book is THE one I go back to over and over for stories, recipes, processes and help for HOW to eat well.  I cannot recommend it enough!!!!

My second favorite book(s), which are worn and used by all of us in my busy household, are two written by two sisters who were seeking truth about health and nutrition and finally ditched everything they thought they "knew" and headed back to the scriptures.  Their journey has been one of intimacy with the Almighty and has freed many (hundreds of thousands) who have been able, like me, to come off sugar addictions and completely change our habits for ourselves and our families.  I will share more about those wonderfully helpful books soon.  Stay tuned!

BeeyoutifulBeeyoutiful essential oils are a part of every day here and OH how I like them!  I use them to make some of my own cleaning products, for baths, wound care and aromatherapy.  My cold air diffuser is a lovely way to enhance my home's atmosphere and health.

Soul
For mood music, few things relax me more than Lifescapes. They have a wonderful selection and their album "Anticipation" is exquisite.   Our older children often choose it before bed and during rest times.  They all heard it while they grew in my womb.  :)

The cello and piano of the Piano Guys have completely captivated our family.

Nurturing baby is so important during pregnancy and throughout infancy and beyond.  I came across this book while pregnant with our twins.  I wish I had read it during my first pregnancy.  It is one of the best books on Mothering I have ever read.  With tremendous insight, passion and studies, Naomi Stadlen gives fantastic information to those who perhaps lack a bit of nurturing knowledge for one reason or another.

Many blessings as you enjoy this very special season.

*If you would like to learn more about the spirit, I highly recommend Sapphire Leadership Group's DVD series by Arthur Burk.  I received the set as a gift from SLG and have been astonished, delighted and challenged by the ramifications for loving God with our spirits first as Jesus indicates in Matthew 22:37 and elsewhere.  It's one of THE most important aspects of our humanity...and we're mostly in the dark about it.  To learn more, visit theSLG.com.
