You love your kids. You want the best for them. There are a lot of choices out there. To nurse? To co-sleep? To wear or wrap? On and on it goes.
First of all, let's back up.
Do you KNOW you're okay in your skin? I hope so. If not, let's be real. Mom's who are hiding from pain, looking at their kids to meet their needs or to boost their egos usually end up doing pretty abysmal jobs meeting the extraordinary needs of the little ones they serve.
You are serving God as you tend to your little ones. He gave them to you. He is the One who has to show you the way. Lean on Him, Mama. Let Him heal you; lead you; guide you; comfort you; correct you; teach you; grow you. You can trust Him.
Don't have babies because it's going to make you feel better or because you want someone to love you. That's not the job of a baby. They will screw that up right away and you might not like them. Not liking them is a sure fire way to make sure they DON'T turn out all right...and let's face it...children who turn out great is our greatest hope, right???
Okay...so how do we go about this? We're less than perfect, prone to some drama and determined to do this well. Our wombs within us contain mysteries we didn't learn about in health class when we were in school and the children who come from them do NOT come with user manuals. What works for one might not at all ever work with any other one again!
Let's face it: all our years of education and efforts and labor and toil out there in the real world left us daft in the area of mothering. Ask me how I know.
Before we go much further, I want to ask you, Mother....do you FEEL refreshed? Do you FEEL peaceful? Do you feel adored and calm?
Do you know how to meet your needs and get the ones met you can't meet yourself? Do you know what your needs even are?
Mama, you won't regret the time you take to get your innards straightened out. The Kingdom of God needs you. You're worth it!!
For years I used this song by Scott Phillips to intercede for myself so I could get a better grip on who I am and what I'm here for. It helped a lot. I'm on the other side now. :)
Maybe you'll enjoy it too.
